OBRA’sil project
Historical:
In October 2002, MrLemêtre (Mouvement du NidAssociation) presented the ICFS to two French associations: the first, “Just a Dream”, composed of young academics from the School of Foreign Trade – EDHEC, the second “Youth Workshop and Sharing”, member sof the ABEJ. Both were looking for a new partner to help build a school or a community center.
After evaluation of our business and the current project, we realized that renting shelters represented a substantial cost, nearly R $ 2,100.00 (two thousand one hundred reals). Therefore, our main objective of the collaboration was the construction of the Community center.
The ICFS also aims to make possible the interaction between professionals, students and social actors to promote the exchange of experiences, while promoting our social actions. It is in this context that arises O’BRASIL the project, which means: Work in Brazil.
Donations of land:
After a series of meetings attended by judges of childhood, Dr. Paulo Cezar and Dr. GuacySibilleLeite with local entrepreneurs, we were given the 2/8 of the surface of the land that had to be purchased. 1/8 th was given by the energy company Santa Elisa and 1/8 thby Copema Investments. Later, on the advice of Mr Bernard Lemetre (Mouvement du Nid), the association “The Link”, after evaluation, made the equivalent of 1/8 th of the total price. This left us to further finance 5/8 of the total cost, acquired in late 2004 with the support of Development Group.
Architecture Project:
Through the Copema entrepreneurs, we met Marcia Santiago, architect by profession, who came to visit the Centre and who graciously offered her services. It thus proceeded to develop the architectural design of the site and has become one of the main vehicles of support and donations from project O’BRASIL.
Dynamique:
Supporters:
For 3 years, 7 youth in social and professional integration of the Young and Sharing Workshop, supervised by the director, a health professional (doctor or nurse) and 7 young university students from EDHEC, mobilized and moved to the location to raise funds for the construction project of this piece of land in Brazil. Every year for 15 days, exchanges and humanitarian operations have been implemented. All participated in the construction site, facilitated workshops with children, and contributed to meetings with partners ICFS, and with the local communications programs to promote the project.
Partners
The importance of action mobilized the ICFS, all his friends and supporters, to multiply requests for support and positive responses have reassured us.
